Transfer A Virtualpc Image To A Hard Drive?

December 17th, 2009

I have a VirtualPC image on my mac that i want to image to a viable HD so i can boot it on a regular PC. How would i go about doing this?
My problem is that i have an older (Toshiba Satellite Pro 420CDS) laptop that wont boot off of any CDs, but it will boot off of a floppy disk that has a boot-loader on it (sBootMgr) that allows booting from CDs. However, when booting a Windows 98 disc, it hangs before even showing any install steps, and when booting a Ubuntu disc, it hangs while booting the installer after the keyboard is identified. Unfortunately, the only Win95 CD i have is an upgrade which does not boot.
When i got the machine (free) it had the windows 98 command.com files on it and nothing else, so i put DeLi Linux on it. I dont know linux that well so that is a problem. And when in the DOS prompt when booted from a dos diskette it does not recognise the CD drive, because lack of drivers. I installed a virtual machine of 98 and want to image it to the HD in the laptop. Possible?

Let the host system share the drive. For some functions it’s easier to map the drive in the guest.

Usb Drive No Longer Works After Attempting To Copy Files From Virtual Machine To The Usb Drive.?

November 22nd, 2009

I had my USB drive connected to my mac, and I had running a virtual machine running windows 7. I attempted to copy a folder from this virtual machine to my usb, connected to mac os x, not the virtual machine. Then, it gave me an error saying it could not complete copying (I didn’t really think too much of it at this point) but then my USB drive was no longer an icon on the desktop, and it’s LED light was turned off, unlike usual. I restarted my mac and plugged it in again. It does not show any signs that it recognizes it, and did not yell at me for not pressing eject first when I took out the USB drive. I then plugged it into my Windows laptop (which it does work in, usually). It recognizes that there is a device connected, but when I click on it [Removable disk (D:)] it says “Please insert disk into Removable Disk (D:).
I have no idea what to do. If anyone has a suggestion, I’d gladly try it, since I’d like this USB to work so I can get my school assignment that I planned on working on today.
