I have a macbook pro. I have VMware. I have Adobe Photoshop CS 2 for Windows. I haven’t tried installing the Photoshop yet, but would installing and running Photoshop using VMware slow down my mac more than adobe photoshop mac version? By how much?

November 13th, 2009So recently, I’ve gotten into doing music and video production. I’m taking classes that use software on Macs like Logic Pro and Final Cut Studio, software that’s far superior than anything I’ve seen on PC’s. I really want to get a Mac so I can buy this software and use it on my own time. However, I’m not sure I’m willing to pay $1500 or so for a Mac with the specs I want when I already have a PC. What should I do:
- Use a Virtual Machine on my current PC so that I can run a Mac Operating System without paying for a separate computer
OR
- Pay the $1500 for the Mac that I want
Keep in mind that I have no idea what’s involved with running a Virtual Machine on a computer, so I don’t know how complicated and risky it would actually be. Is this even possible? I would love to save the money, but not if it’s going to cause more problems than it’s worth.
