Can I Install Yellow Dog Linux 5.0 As A Virtual Machine?

November 24th, 2009 Leave a reply »

I want to install Yellow Dog Linux as a virtual machine on my iMac. This version of linux was intended to be run on the PS3 system, but I would like to try it on my Mac computer. I’m using VMware Fusion (Beta). When I try to install it, it asks me what kind of Linux I would like to install. It’s not listed, and under the listings, it says other-2.2.x kernel, 2.4.x kernel, 2.4.x 64 bit, 2.6.x kernel, 2.6.x 64-bit, and other Linux 64-bit. I’, wondering what kernel Yellow Dog Linux is. Thanks.

You’ll have to look at the documentation for the specific distro you have. Usually many versions are released at a time.
Most likely today, if you downloaded something within the past 3 months or so, it’d be a 2.6.x kernel.
